Behold the first unified scene coming together in Simple Farms a sprawling set of tiled land ready for tilling, our trusty pixel-art Farmer protagonist (sourced from itch.io, as shared in the kickoff devlog), and that majestic evergreen tree from the previous post, standing sentinel along the world's edge!
This isn't just a static screenshot it's a playable milestone! The Farmer now roams the grid-based terrain with smooth movement, interacting seamlessly with the environment: tilling fresh soil plots, planting seeds from an early inventory, and pausing to admire the ambient nature backdrop that tree provides. The land tiles blend perfectly rich brown earth, subtle grass tufts, and fertile patches that hint at future crop rows—creating that essential cozy farming sim foundation where every square foot feels purposeful and alive.
After the asset swaps and world-building tweaks we've powered through, development is hitting its stride. Core locomotion is buttery smooth, basic collision detection keeps everything grounded (pun intended), and the camera pans effortlessly across the expanding farmstead. No more janky prototypes—these coming days will see rapid iteration: crop growth cycles kicking in with satisfying animations (seed → sprout → harvest), tool equipping for hoes and watering cans, and even day-night transitions to cast those golden-hour glows over the fields. It's stable enough now for external playtests friends, fellow indies, and early fans can soon wander the plot, plant their first carrots, and share feedback to shape the full vision.
Stay tuned—the farm is growing, and you're invited to watch (and soon, help tend) it! 🚜
